1. About These Terms

These terms govern your use of LingoUnify, a language learning platform operated by OmniOrion AS, a company registered in Norway. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use LingoUnify.

2. The Service

LingoUnify provides:

  • AI-generated language learning content tailored to your level
  • Word saving and flashcard creation tools
  • Spaced repetition practice
  • Live radio streaming for listening practice
  • Text-to-speech pronunciation for words and phrases
  • Document upload (.txt, .epub) for personal language learning
  • Social features to connect with friends and track progress together

We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will try to provide notice for significant changes.

3. Your Account

To use LingoUnify, you need to create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when signing up
  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Be responsible for all activity on your account
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access

You must be at least 16 years old to use LingoUnify.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for illegal purposes
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data
  • Circumvent usage limits or rate limiting
  • Share content that is harmful, abusive, or violates others' rights
  • Use the AI features to generate prohibited content

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

LingoUnify offers free and paid subscription tiers. For paid plans:

  • Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record
  • Paddle handles all billing, payments, taxes, and refunds on our behalf
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
  • You can cancel anytime from your account settings

Refund Policy

All refunds are handled by Paddle in accordance with their Consumer Terms. You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting Paddle directly through your payment receipt or at paddle.com/help.

Prices may change with notice. Changes will not affect your current billing period.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you create (saved words, custom flashcards, etc.). By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to store and display your content as needed to provide the service.

You may upload files (such as .txt or .epub) and import publicly accessible article URLs (for example by clicking a preview card or pasting a link) for personal language learning use. These import features are provided as language-learning tools, including on free access tiers where available. You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to upload, import, and process any content you provide. URL-imported full article body content is processed transiently for reading and learning and is not stored as long-term user library content. For browse/news discovery, we may temporarily cache preview metadata (such as title, source link, and thumbnail) for service performance.

AI-generated content is created for your personal learning use. You may not redistribute AI-generated content commercially without permission.

7. Copyright and Content Takedown

LingoUnify respects intellectual property rights. For user-provided materials, we act as a platform that processes user-uploaded content and user-initiated URL imports for language learning. We do not pre-screen, monitor, or endorse content selected or provided by users.

You must not upload, import, or process any content through LingoUnify that you do not have the legal right to use. This includes copyrighted books, articles, or other materials you have not purchased, licensed, or otherwise obtained permission to use. If you use URL import or browse previews, you remain responsible for your rights to the underlying content.

If you are a copyright holder or authorised representative and believe that content on our platform infringes your rights, please submit a takedown request through our Content Takedown. Include:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed
  • A description of the infringing material and its location on our platform
  • Your contact information
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate

We will review valid notices and take appropriate action, which may include removing or disabling access to the content in question.

Users who repeatedly upload infringing content may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

8. Intellectual Property

LingoUnify and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of our service without permission.

9. Third-Party Services

LingoUnify integrates with third-party services including:

  • Google and Microsoft for authentication
  • OpenAI for AI content generation
  • Microsoft Azure Speech Services for text-to-speech and speech-to-text
  • Paddle for payments (Merchant of Record)
  • PostHog for product analytics and session recordings

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. All AI and speech processing is ephemeral - no user audio, text, or generated content is stored or retained by these providers beyond real-time processing.

10. Radio Feature

The radio feature provides access to publicly available internet radio stations via the Radio Browser directory. Please note:

  • Radio content is provided by third-party broadcasters. We do not control, curate, or take responsibility for the content of radio streams.
  • We do not record, store, or log any audio you listen to.
  • We do not generate, store, or retain any transcription of radio audio.
  • If you are a rights holder and believe a station listing should be removed, please see our Content Takedown page.

11. Disclaimer

LingoUnify is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • AI-generated content will be perfectly accurate
  • The service will meet all your learning needs

Language learning takes effort - we provide tools to help, but your results depend on your dedication.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of LingoUnify.

Our total liability for any claims under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $100 if you have not paid anything).

13. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your settings. We may also suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately. We may retain certain data as described in our Privacy Policy.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the service. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Any disputes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If that fails, disputes may be resolved in the courts of Norway.
